Kamairicha is the oldest leaf tea produced in Japan and is the only Japanese tea that is pan-roasted to deactivate the enzymes. It’s a rare tea that is produced in just two locations in the Kyushu region and accounts for 0.3% of the total production of Japanese tea. The roasting process produces a savory taste and aroma called “Kamaka” (pan-parched flavor).
